Welcome to my website. My name is Sean Dooley – I am a secondary school Head of English with a passion for writing. After graduating from Exeter University in 2005, I studied for a PGCE before beginning my teaching career in Cambridge. Here my commitment to encouraging young people to read, write and think creatively led to a two year Masters course in Arts, Culture and Education at Cambridge University.
I am currently working on a series of middle grade adventure fiction novels set in the 17th Century. The first one is called 1666 and I was really excited that it made it on to the 2019 Bath Children’s Novel Award shortlist as well as the Flash500 Novel Opening longlist! You can read an extract from it here. More information about my other writing projects (including ‘ Voxmort’ which was longlisted in the 2017 Bath Children’s Novel Award) can be found on the Novels page.
The plays I have written have been performed in England, Australia and America and you can see some of the reviews on the News and Reviews page.
I love writing murder mysteries and have enjoyed hosting many successful evenings for family and friends – you can see a brief outline of some of them on the ‘Murder Mysteries’ page. Let me know if you’d like to have a go at hosting one yourself!
Please take a moment to explore the site and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like to read my writing, perform my plays, or purchase a murder mystery.
I would love to hear any comments or questions about my writing, so please get in touch via the Contact Me page and you can follow me on Twitter @sean_m_dooley.
Thank you for visiting!
My plays have been performed by amateur theatre companies across the UK and Europe, America and in Australia. They are available to purchase from LazyBeeScripts.
